Most healthy adults and children who consume contaminated food experience only mild to moderate symptoms. People with poor immune function are at much higher risk of severe, life-threatening forms of listeriosis. In pregnant women, listeriosis can result in miscarriage, premature delivery, serious infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth.
1. The NADAL Listeria Stool test detects Listeria monocytogenes in faecal samples of infected persons.
2. The SwabSURE ListeriaP offers presumptive detection of pathogenic Listeria from food-contact and environmental surfaces and is based on a colour-change principle. This colour change also permits differentiation of pathogenic Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria ivanovii from other commensal microorganisms including Listeria.
